Little Woman, Little Home: Marriage From The Heart

Big Man and I are quickly approaching our first of many anniversaries.?

I can't believe it's already been almost a year and it's been a fun filled and very busy one at that. I'm glad we've made the decisions we have and I'm really seeing our life together start to take shape and evolve. Like any relationship, we've had our ups and down, but since saying our I Do's we've really been making a concentrated effort to understand each other and to really start this marriage off on the right foot.?

I'm a big fan of self help and organization books (lame, maybe?) but there has been one book that has been touching me to the core and has really opened up my eyes to different aspects of relationships, especially within a marriage.?

The funny thing....We actually bought this for 50 cents years ago even before we were married or engaged while we were at a bookstore that we'd always frequented in Florida.?

Marriage From The Heart : 8 Commitments of a?Spiritually?Fulfilling Life Together

by Lois Kellerman and Nelly Bly?

And let me tell you, this was the best 50 cents I've ever spent.

This is not only just for married folks either. If your in a committed relationship for 2 years or 12, I think people could really benefit from this book. It's about creating a good relationship and solid foundation for your future with your partner and with yourself. It encompasses the basics of being a good person no matter what your sex, creed,?financial?standing etc.

Here is the basic layout and the 8 Commitments mentioned in the title...

First Commitment
Centering: I will create a warm, loving home life and place my marriage at its center.
Second Commitment
Choosing: I will cultivate the discipline of choosing wisely.?
Third Commitment
Honoring: I will have reverence for my partner and myself.?
Fourth Commitment
Caring: I will be a source of loving care for my partner, setting my heart upon what matters most.?
Fifth Commitment
Abiding: I will have faith, patiently persisting through life's many changes.
Sixth Commitment
Repairing: I will work to mend what is broken in my partner and myself.?
Seventh Commitment
Listening: I will stay open to new insight, however unlikely the source.?
Eighth Commitment
Celebrating: I will celebrate spiritual values with my partner and others.?

This may not be everyone's cup of tea, but to me and for the chapters I've read thus far, have been nothing but helpful and encouraging for me.?I think in all parts of relationships, these 8 commitments are the ones that really need to be evaluated and worked on to make a marriage truly work.

I'm really enjoying it and thought some of you might too, so as I go through it, I might host a couple little discussions to share what I've learned and get all of your wonderful ideas, input, and insight.

Sound like something you would enjoy?!?

xoxo.
